Australia
$50 1995 First Print Last Prefix Rare
Signatures
Governor - Bernard William 'Bernie' Fraser
Secretary To The Treasury - Edward Alfred 'Ted' Evans
This is a very rare last prefix polymer note, especially in UNC or even aUNC conditions. If you have one in your collection and did not pay a high price for it, then you are one lucky collector. I got this from the ATM and it is in vg-vf condition. I have two of these, both from the ATMs.
As this was the first polymer prints for the new polymer series, and since the amount of banknotes printed are all depending on the demand, not all polymer notes printed have the same last prefixes. For this reason, many collectors missed out on this and for this reason, it became one of the most expensive last prefixes of note, if not the rarest. The print run for this prefix was 379,999 pieces, which is quite a lot. I am not sure if this is harder to find or the first Australia 10 polymer commemorative 1988 print. Equally, both notes are hot favourites among serious collectors. I hope you have better luck than me.
Below, I have only posted the reverse side of the note. The portrait of the note belongs to Edith Dircksey Cowan OBE (b.1861-1932).
