2019 - Here I have a complete collection of all Australian polymer notes (single note) issued since 1988, including all commemorative / numismatic notes, joint issues and special serial numbered issues. The only set that I do not have, at the moment, is the 1998 $10 Portraits AA98/AB98 (with or without frame). This $10 Portrait set was a failure at that time and the series was later withdrawn as it was not popular among collectors. The price was not right then for me too and that was why I didn't buy them. It was the NPA intention then to release all portrait sets on a yearly basis starting with the $10 note and collectors were also given the opportunity to get them all with matching serial numbers too. Unfortunately this was not to be the case.

* Australian banknotes are also the official currency of Christmas Island, Norfolk Islands, Keeling and Cocos Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu. The Australian banknotes were also once circulating as an official currency of Hebrides (Vanuatu), Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands prior to gaining independence. *

.Australia - 1992 $5 First Issue

Australia

$5 First Polymer Issue
Signatures
Governor - Bernard William 'Bernie' Fraser
Secretary - Edward Alfred 'Ted' Evans

This is the first of the polymer series for Australia of $5 released on 07.07.1992. The prefixes printed for this series ranging from AA00 to AB19. I believe the AA19 last prefix is a rare note in uncirculated condition.

Over the years, collectors discovered that there are minor varieties of this $5. As you can see below, some are printed with black serial numbers, and some with green serial numbers. The green serial number notes also come with light and dark green in colour too.

Five Dollars, ND1993 P50
Black Serial No
Dark Green Serial No
Light Green Serial No

    1. Hi Carla

      Thank you for your comment.

I do not think I know what’s the current value of your note. If I have to guess, I would say around A$50 in UNC condition. The prefix of your note is AB15. The series for this note is printed with the first prefix of AA00 to AB19. If you have either of these, your note would worth much more. Also this note comes in light green and dark green serial nos too. I do not believe these were deliberately printed. These are also slightly more expensive too.

      Good luck to your collection.
