2019 - Here I have a complete collection of all Australian polymer notes (single note) issued since 1988, including all commemorative / numismatic notes, joint issues and special serial numbered issues. The only set that I do not have, at the moment, is the 1998 $10 Portraits AA98/AB98 (with or without frame). This $10 Portrait set was a failure at that time and the series was later withdrawn as it was not popular among collectors. The price was not right then for me too and that was why I didn't buy them. It was the NPA intention then to release all portrait sets on a yearly basis starting with the $10 note and collectors were also given the opportunity to get them all with matching serial numbers too. Unfortunately this was not to be the case.

* Australian banknotes are also the official currency of Christmas Island, Norfolk Islands, Keeling and Cocos Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu. The Australian banknotes were also once circulating as an official currency of Hebrides (Vanuatu), Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands prior to gaining independence. *

.Australia - 1993 Eminent Women Centenary Portfolio Red Serial No

Australia

1993 Eminent Women Centenary Portfolio Black Serial Number
Governor - Bernard William 'Bernie' Fraser
Secretary To The Treasury - Edward Alfred 'Ted' Evans

This is a joint venture issue between NPA and the Australian Post, for paying tribute to three of Australia's most successful women, namely Dame Mary Jean Gilmore DBE (b.1865-1962), Dame Enid Muriel Lyons AD, GBE (b.1897-1981) and Dorothy Margaret Tangney DBE (b.1907-1985).

Dame Mary Gilmore was a writer and a journalist and both Dames Enid Lyons and Dorothy Tangney were politicians. Dame Mary Gilmore is featured on the reverse side of this $20 polymer note. Interesting to note that Enid Lyons was the spouse of Joseph Lyons, who was the Prime Minister of Australia from 1932 until his death in 1939.

A total of 500 sets with red serial numbers were issued and sold for $175 per set. This issue also included a pane of 45 cents postage stamps featuring both Dames Dorothy Tangney and Mary Gilmore (not posted here). Set number one with serial no AP93 000001 was sold at auction and raised $3,000.

Posted below is set #76.
